Optimizing your site for organic (aka free) search sounds great. Free traffic, free customers, woohoo! But before you start throwing the digital confetti, it’s important to understand what SEO is and what it can (and cannot) do for you.
What SEO Is
SEO is optimizing your website so search engines can find, identify and rank your content favorably in a search results page. The process includes researching the best keywords you should concentrate on (keyword research) and editing your content to concentrate around those keywords.
Let’s say you have a dental practice. And that you would like your website to appear when a potential patient types in “Emergency Dentist near me.” If your site is well-optimized and established for “Emergency Dentist”, it is more likely to show up for nearby searchers. These search results are typically referred to as free, or organic.

What SEO Is Not
Many people confuse SEO with paid search (sometimes called PPC for Pay Per Click). PPC is literally paying Google for your site to appear on the search results page. If you want to be guaranteed you will show up in the top results for your chosen keywords, PPC is what you want. Not SEO. That’s why we primarily focus on PPC–so we’re more than happy to help you with that.
